Syllia Jasmil Newstead
Hi! I am a 25 year old graduate from Salisbury University. I studied Communications with a Media Production Track and had a Film minor. I have a passion for singing and journalism. I also love performing in the theatre. My family is from Freetown, Sierra Leone in West Africa. I have an older brother who attended the University of Maryland. My first semester was at Montgomery College. At Montgomery College, I took a Television Production class, a Radio Internship class, and a Chorus class. I was also apart of the Afro Student Association and the Filipino club where I played flag football. I attended Salisbury University for 3 years and graduated in December of 2019. At Salisbury, I became a writer and photographer for the newspaper, The Flyer. I was a crew member and secretary for the television station, SUTV. I was the Program Manager for the radio station, WXSU LP Salisbury. I also held three other jobs. Outside of school, I was an On-Air Personality for Today's Hits OC104 [WOCQ], a Top 40 radio station in Salisbury, MD. I also worked customer service for Altitude Trampoline Park. Currently, I am a Freelance Production Assistant who has been able to help with various film/tv projects in the DMV, a Lighting Director at The Fillmore Silver Spring and Rams Head Live!, and a Spot Op at EagleBank Arena. I have worked on productions with HBO, Law & Crime Network, and more. |
